According to the information of the Federal Service for Supervision of Consumer Rights Protection and Human Welfare according to the World Health Organization (WHO) and information from the leadership of the Republic of Liberia, from April 23 to May 4, 2017 among adult residents of one of the districts of the Republic of Liberia, bordering from Sierra Leone, 28 cases of undetermined etiology were reported, 12 of which were fatal.

The disease is manifested by fever, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea.

As noted in the department, the results of studies on the causative agent of Ebola fever are negative.

It is assumed that the cause could be the consumption of infected foods or water.

Specialists from WHO and other international organizations are involved in the investigation.

"Employees of the Russian-Guinean Research Center for the Epidemiology and Prevention of Infectious Diseases (Kindia, Republic of Guinea) are ready to provide comprehensive assistance," the ministry's press service added.
