Compared to the same period last year, this year the number of settlements in terms of insect prevalence has increased by nine villages.

Today, at a press conference of the Regional Communications Service, the director of the branch of the National Center of Expertise for the Kyzylorda region, Farida Kalieva, said that entomological surveys in the natural focus of the Congo - Crimean hemorrhagic fever began in March.

“During the entomological survey in natural foci in the region, 3,498 specimens of ticks were collected, of which 372 samples were taken for further laboratory research. According to the results of the enzyme immunoassay, 4 samples turned out to be positive and the infection index was 1.1%,” noted Farida Kalieva.

Positive samples were detected in the Zhalagash district (1 sample), Shieli district (2 samples) and in the city of Kyzylorda (1 sample).

According to the director of the branch, disinfestation work against ticks in these areas will begin in April. Today, the laboratory is fully equipped with test systems and materials necessary for research.
